Don't Expect Intergalactic PS5 to Launch Until at Least 2027

I hate when these clowns take to twitter or post all over their podcasts what their sources have been telling them. I still love the old days where we got our gaming news organically. I was hoping for trailer #2 at the GA's, now said clown shot that idea down a month prior. Bummer man!

Interesting. Colin is friends with Druckmann so you'd have to think he has some pretty good contacts and a lot of his scoops have been accurate.

If it isn't content complete, I'd wonder what they were doing for the past 5 years.

They certainly didn't have everyone working on the aborted online game.

@Vermines me too 100%. ND are magicians. I just wanted a new trailer at the GA's. That was my #1 reason for tuning in. I thought for sure it was gonna be there. But my #2 reason is still worth tuning in. And its just the fact that the GA's have become e3 with announcements. So I'm sure Sony still has some great stuff planned.

So three first party games in 2026, two of them is Marvel and third is roguelike. I'm glad I don't like Sony's games.

I'm telling you guys, i called this a month or so ago on here. That larger piece right above her sword handle is a CD player, the red soundwaves from the music are all up and down her sword. You collect different CD's with licensed music to insert into that player on her sword handle for different combat affects. Remember where you heard it lol

Will Sony follow here the approach of Breath of the Wild? While it was the „Wii U Zelda“ for the longest time of development, being the top release game for Switch changed the whole reception.

You can’t compare the system numbers of PS5 and poor Wii U, sure. But if the PS6 shows a phenomenal graphical improvement over PS5, Intergalactic could become THE PS6 game.

@StitchJones you don't have to like Sony games to be primarily playing on the console system with the highest player base and therefore want news for said system...

I have every mainline console and a pc. I like some Sony games and not others. I generally like marvel games. So 2026 will be fine for me for 1st party.

Even so that person's comment really wasn't one that needed a reply or was asking for any sort of opening a dialogue and especially a gatekeeping of their right to use the site

Was never expecting it in 2026 tbh… the year will have enough going on with Wolvie, Saros and GTAVI. Just perfect the **** out of Intergalactic for the following year.

@Max_the_German They released Ghost of Tsushima and the Last of Us ptII both within 5 months of the PS5 and didn’t even have native PS5 versions at launch. I’m pretty sure it’s released as soon as it’s ready, on whatever platform is ready to go.

I miss the days of the ps2 generation when we’d get 3 new gta’s in the console life span.

Lucky if we get one release per studio these days.

@Elfuggingjefe yeah I have zero concerns, these guys hit it out the park every time… and Intergalactic looks far more my kinda thing than Uncharted or TLoU (all of which I love), so this is right up there with my most anticipated games rn.

@Dodoo These stupidly expensive long winded games will all but vanish eventually. The health of this industry beyond the Big Ten (GTA5, Fortnite, Minecraft etc.) is deeply questionable whether it can make the returns any more. So many high profile failures...

@Elfuggingjefe @dodoo @lifegirl Agreed with all of you. The game industry is going to have to pivot away if it wants to survive. My favorite example is RDRD2, which literally has a system to shrink and enlarge horse testicles based on temperature. Sure, it’s funny, and the detail is impressive, but they literally took resources away to model that — and countless other details that no one would ever, ever know unless they read about it. Sure, Rockstar can take these swings, but how many billion-dollar budgeted AAA games have failed in the last few years — when those devs could have made several in the same frame for less cost, taking more chances and not hanging their future on one giant expensive title that’s focused-tested to the point of being boring?

I think the rise of less-powerful portables and indie games, and the overall indifference to more powerful console refreshes, are a sign that people are caring less about this giant graphical showcases and just want more varied games that are fun.

We all know Naughty Dog ALWAYS deliver with the goods, so if I have to wait till 2027 then so be it.

People bash on Amy these days for not releasing a game for years, but at the same time, she and her team managed to release 3 great games in a single generation, and that with hardware that was a pain to work with.
They've had x86 dev kits for years and no new game since last of us 2. Usually I'm like, take your time and do it right, but this is just embarrassing.

I swear I forget this game exists until I see articles about it, then I forget again only for the cycle to continue. They don't seem to be doing much to drum up the hype and what I do know about it would probably fit on a cocktail napkin. Space, religion, Porsche, Adidas and that's about it. I can definitely wait until 2027, they aren't doing or saying enough about it for me to feel the kind of hype that maybe I should. A couple of years ago a female protagonist would have been enough to catch my attention, now I'm too guarded about potential hooks and gimmicks. I'd rather just play a game for the sake of playing a game especially if it's set in a fictional world. I've enjoyed a lot of previous Naughty Dog games though so I guess I'll wait until the reviews drop.

@EvenStephen7 the only issue with crap like that is when people start disparaging any and every game after for not then living up to something like rdr2.

I'd say let them cook. With Saros, Marvel Tokon and Wolverine coming next year, I'll have enough Playstation games to savor

First party games take so long these days that I rarely even consider them!
This doesn't look like my kinda thing, but hey it's a new IP & I'm all for that.
Also, let people have have their opinions, try to be mature about things.

Maybe Grub, Moriarty etc should all place a large bet on it if they are so sure on their 'superior' insider information. Can't we just enjoy a reveal when a studio is ready to do so without all this need to show you know stuff?

Anyway. I look forward to seeing some gameplay whenever it is ready to be shown, Naughty Dog have never disappointed for me.

The thing is it could be more considering some studios like Firesprite, Dark Outlaw Games, and Santa Monica already working on their new games for at least 3 years. Maybe we will see one of them on TGA or January-March SoP.

Not to mention Guerilla also could show their online Horizon. Who knows.

But i guess all these 1st party games doesn't matter since you don't like Sony games anymore right?

Honestly would not be surprised if we're looking at early 2028. Those who are losing their marbles over the wait either do not have an understanding with the scale of development for a title like this or they aren't of adult age.

Most PlayStation Studios will be able to deliver one (or at max two) games per generation going forward. That's why many think they still don't have enough studios and many of their third party exclusivity deals are going away (Final Fantasy, Persona, Yakuza and so on are now full multiplatform).

Sony already have 5 games releasing next year (Wolverine, Marvel Tokon, MLB 26, Marathon and Saros) so let's not get too carried away and over saturate 2026, especially with GTA launching towards the end of the year as games will want to avoid releasing November to December giving Sony 10 months to release those 5 games.

@SuperSilverback yes, it could be very well be cassetes.. only reason i said CD's is because the way she plays cd's in her Porsche ship, in trailer #1. So naturally since thats her prefered form of media, thats what carries over. And that part of the sword seems more round then square. But thats the joy in all this, its open to our interpretations. However, we both agree its a music based mechanic regardless of what the format is. I think it would be really cool due to the fact that licensed music use is very rare in video games. Putting it into gameplay in a fleshed out fashion that way would be cool to see

@DennisReynolds 2027 makes mroe sense if they intend for this to be cross gen ps5/ps6 as well. which might be the case

You are lucky to get two Sony first-party developed PS5 single player games per year this generation; they are never doing three, haha.

2026 is pretty packed for Playstation already. Saros & MLB in spring, Wolverine in the summer, Marvel Tokon and (likely) Marathon are due out 2026, then finally the GTA6 partnership means Sony will promote that in the Autumn. It makes sense for Intergalactic to lead the 2027 year.

That’s okay, i’ve been enjoying my ps3 for half this gen anyway. i’m over the long wait time for games. the recent gta6 delay again was it for me

So one leaker is saying it definitey will be shown at the game awards, and one saying it wont. So one of them must be full of it, or has terrible insider sources. Can we start weeding out these leakers everytime they get things wrong?

2026 is not even here yet and Sony games looking rather dull. For me at least. Wolverine might be alright but that's it. The others don't interest me at all.

@darylb24 Sony actually released four single players games for PS5 launch: Spiderman Miles Morales, Demon Souls remake, Sackboy Big Adventure, and Astro Playroom. Make it five if we count Spiderman remastered.

In 2022, they released three single player games; GoW Ragnarok, Horizon FW, and TloU 1 remake.

And in 2024 also released three single player games; Astro Bot, Lego Horizon, and TloU 2 remastered. Make it five if we count Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin since Sony published both games.

I agree, 2026 is already a stacked year for Sony first party with Saros, Wolverine, MLB26, Marathon and Marvel Tokon. There’s also the possibility Guerilla’s Horizon Online and the rumoured God of War 2.5d releasing on top of those.

Not to mention third party Playstation console exclusives like Nioh 3, Phantom Blade Zero, Chronoscript, Zero Parades and Loulan: The Cursed Sand.

And thats just what we know of so far, definitely a great year for Playstation users. Although i would’ve liked to see Intergalactic release nxt year as well, but if it’s not ready then it’s not ready. Naughty Dog delivers some of the best games, who am i to rush them

I count at least 10 games from my wishlist that i want to buy and that's not include games from this year that i'm not yet buy like DS 2, Yotei, NG 4, Earthion, R-Type HD, Absolum etc. So many games but my wallet and times are very limited 😔

At this point Intergalactic and GTA6 should just be PS6 launch titles. And I mean that seriously. I don't want a "remaster" with PS6 upgrades for a upgrade fee one year after release, that would be disgusting.

@Dogbreath you're right and on top of them being friends, if you watch the colin/Neil interview on last stand's podcast, you get the impression that Colin would 100% not say anything unless he ran it by Neil first. In fact he's had a few dev's on his podcast for interviews and i get the sense that Colin would respect their wishes with something like this as well.

Colin is a huge ND and TLOU fan as well. He, like most of us here were disgusted by the whole TLOU2 leak, debacle and ND hate machine that formed after. So I def think his outlook would be that leaking and ND is a sensitive thing. So go to Neil first and get his blessing before saying a word.

Sony lacks the manpower to produce more than 1-2 games per year due to a lack of studios, so it is outsourcing projects and working with third-party studios to create more second-party games. Stellar Blade, Bloodborne, The Order 1886, and even the first Death Stranding (which is not a second-part game anymore) are all second-party games created by other studios, but Sony owns the intellectual property and publishing rights. Given its number of AAA studios, Sony is unable to produce more than one AAA single-player game per year, as shown below.

1) Naughty Dog.
2) Santa Monica.
3) Sucker Punch.
4) Insomniac
5) Guerrilla Games.
6) Bend Studio.
7) Team Asobi (though it's an AA, not a AAA studio).

Sony has only six AAA studios that specialize in single-player games. Sony made the mistake of forcing many of these studios to produce some of its 12 live service games, which disrupted the production schedule by shifting their focus from single-player to live service games. Even if all AAA studios focused on single-player projects, with an average 5-year development time, Sony could only produce 1-1.5 single-player AAA games per year because it doesn't have enough studios. Sony could aim to have at least 10 AAA studios to release two games annually, each with a five-year development cycle. To strengthen its lineup of single-player AAA titles, it might consider acquiring studios like Kojima Productions, Don't Nod, Remedy, Shift Up, and Quantic Dream.

I don't understand why Schreier is held in such high regard when he generally repeats rumours and existing leaks. He's been wrong about some pretty big things too that other leaders got right. For example: he claimed PS5 wouldn't have any cross gen first party games and there wouldn't be a new Call of Duty in 2023.

Here's hoping we won't see this game at all. Sony, make it your own Perfect Dark.

I'm very passionate about video games and very sensitive to this day and age we live in, where hate is spewed into everything so easily. Maybe I jumped on that guy for something a bit too petty. Or maybe I did have a point. Hindsight is always 20/20, but if i can do it all over again, I wouldn't have said anything. So, I apologize for my side of it all. I can only speak for myself though.

@Striker21 the studios expanded for the live service games though , which is why naughty dog laid off a lot of those extra hires when their live service game was cancelled , so it didn't really take away from single player games. i would say the covid shut downs impacted a team like naughty dog more , along with a few others , in at least one of their games would have been out by now, but they also have stated that they are currently working on a 2nd game along with intergalactic.

@Mintie i mean its going to be cross gen either way since ps5 games are playable on ps6 , but i'm guessing they would be able to have a ps6 patch or update that would enhance whatever ps6 features they'll have thats not announced.

Naughty Dog, along with Insomniac, is one of the largest single-player studios, with over 400 employees each, but it's clear that the failed live service project wasted time and resources and threw off its production schedule. It has been confirmed that Naughty Dog's next release after The Last of Us Part 2 was supposed to be Faction, an online multiplayer game set in The Last of Us universe, so Naughty Dog was primarily focusing its resources on that type of game until they realized it would fail and Sony canceled the project. Even some Naughty Dog employees have stated that they are "uncomfortable" with producing live service games because they specialize in single-player AAA titles. If Naughty Dog had fully focused its resources and 400-person workforce on Intergalactic and The Last of Us Part 3 from the start, both games would most likely have been released between 2025 and 2027. Its most recent game, LoU Part 2, was released in 2020, giving it a 5-year window until 2025 to fully develop and release one AAA title.

if you are going to go with whatever story you are weaving in your head sure. but between covid shutting things down , amoung many other things you can't compare this era with others. also i don't think you bothered to read what i wrote? they hired people for the live service stuff , you can blame it all you want on that , but thats not reality. who says they are even working on last of us3

Just cook ND and make it as polished as your other games. It is a shame there hasn’t been a Nd game this gen at all but I’m prepared to wait if it makes it perfect.

honestly i don't really buy much into rumors these days , take everything with a grain of salt, i always wait for these things to be offically announced.

At the moment it's giving me "stick a chick in it and make her gay" vibes so my interest is very low. Hoping once we see some gameplay it'll start to take shape and look interesting which I'm sure it will but time will tell.
